Problemer med Poseidon Triton regulator stopper salg

GRATIS ombytning tilbydes af DYKKERCENTRET

I Dykkercentret valgte vi tidligt i 2001 at indstille salget af Poseidon Triton regulatoren. Baggrunden for dette var de mange problemer vi havde observeret i forbindelse med vedligehold, af netop denne regulator. Vi havde igennem hele år 2000 valgt at tro på Poseidon, der løbende informerede om at regulatoren blev og ville blive forbedret samt videreudviklet. Det betød i praksis, at vi for egen regning udførte utallige reparationer og justeringer på Triton regulatorer vi havde solgt. Disse reparationer blev udført med mindst mulig gene og uden nogen form for omkostninger for dig som kunde. Alle dele udskiftet, som garanti, blev efter aftale med Poseidon krediteret Dykkercentret. Fra januar 2001 valgte Poseidon at ændre den aftale vi havde indgået. Det betød helt urimelige omkostninger på garantireparationer Dykkercentret påtog sig på Triton regulatoren. Vi påtog os ansvaret, fordi vi ikke mente at regulatoren var færdigudviklet og at du som kunde ikke skulle betale for denne udvikling. Poseidon ønskede på ingen måde at dele dette ansvar mere, men lagde hele byrden på os som forhandler.
For at komme ud af denne for os pinlige situation, hvor vi blindt havde stolet på Poseidon, valgte vi at tilbyde alle (over 100 kunder), der havde købt Poseidon Triton regulatorer i Dykkercentret, at få den ombyttet gratis. Ud over den gratis ombytning ville Dykkercentrets 2 års garanti og eventuel 5 årige serviceaftale være gældende på den nye regulator fra ombytningsdagen. Vi valgte at ombytte med topmodellen fra Seac Sub, Sorius Adj. Baggrunden for dette valg var, at vi ville være sikre på at du fik en ny 100% driftsikker regulator. At Sorius Adj der ud over var godkendt efter strengere krav end Triton var bare et ekstra plus.
Nedenstående information fra Poseidon viser med al tydelighed, at Poseidon stadig har problemer med Triton regulatoren, men ikke ønsker at vedstå deres forpligtigelser. At prissætte Triton som angivet, betyder i praksis, at ingen har interesse i at købe den. Poseidon opnår med dette at frasige sig enhver form for ansvar eller forpligtigelse over for deres kunder. I Dykkercentret står vi til enhver tid til ansvar for det vi sælger. Skulle det en anden gang, som i tilfældet med Triton, vise sig at vi har leveret udstyr, der ikke at være godt nok til at opfylde vores kvalitetskrav, vil det blive ombyttet med mindst mulig gene for dig som kunde og selvfølgelig fuldkommen gratis.

TRITON

The management at Poseidon has decided to change the price of Triton, to a price reflecting the relatively higher production cost.

Background

The idea with Triton was to make a cost effective construction, made for high volume sales aimed at the dive school and sports diving market. Every part in Triton is therefore made in polymers to get high volume benefits and to simplify production and service. One of the prime targets was to have the same or similar performance as previous models of Poseidon regulators, as divers expect a high level of performance and quality on products coming from Poseidon.

This sets high demands on ourselves, suppliers and material. Apparently too high. Very few of the parts we receive from suppliers make it trough our internal quality tests which includes optical control of every single part, manual adjustment of parts, tests in various simulators and finally a test dive with every single regulator.

All this testing is made to be able to assure You, that every regulator that is sent out to the market is OK and that it fulfils minimum EN250 standards and our internal demands. With all the crafting involved we can assure You this.

Conclusion

Triton is with all the crafting involved, extremely expensive to produce. We have for many years now subsidised the cost for this crafting, by keeping a competitive price on Triton. This will now be changed.

The new price for Triton (3750) is SEK 7775:- and for Octopus (3760) SEK 5990:-. These prices should reflect the new end user prices excluding local VAT and other taxes. With the new prices we do not expect to sell many Tritons and have also therefore decided not to stock Tritons and Triton octopuses. The delivery time is now six weeks from Your order and we will only accept orders for standard Tritons and octopuses. Item no 3750 and 3760.

We will however stock a new repair kit which is similar to the old recycle kit 3869 but without diffusers. The item number for this kit is the same as for the old recycle kit (#3869). The new price for this kit is SEK 1140:-. This price is still a subsidised price as we at Poseidon want to take our responsibility against all Triton users that need annual service.

This decision gives us new possibilities. We can now use the resources we have used on Triton to speed up production capacity on other regulators. This is necessary looking at the positive results this year and our great expectations for next. We can also use product development resources on other things then trying to make production of Tritons cost effective.
